How many times have you heard the phrase “Stop! And take a breath”?
Most people do the first part and stop, but then they fail to breathe.
Let me share an exercise that is the Breath.
- Breathe in through your nose all the way to your toes. Do this easily but firmly, and then let the breath out through your lips in a silent whistle to a count of 10. This is a Breath.
- Repeat the exercise three times with a short break between the repetitions. This is a Full Breath. Vision will be clarified and brighter.
- Doing five or more repetitions can cause hyperventilation and can result in loss of consciousness? Vision may have flashes in red and all coloration tinted red indicating that you have taken too much oxygen into your blood stream.
Dieting to lose weight is like trying to control the engine of a car with the fuel. The engine of an automobile is controlled like we are by the aspiration or the breath. If you wish to lose weight start first by optimizing your breath. It is best to begin breathing exercises before you even stretch in doing stressful activity. A Full Breath can prepare you for heavy lifting or heated argument.
When you do stop to take a breath as you begin think of what you need and use the breath to cleanse your mind of concern about your need and see your need as fulfilled by the inspiration. This is a prayer.
With the inspiration a song may abide within you. Join the chorus and sing your need and its fulfillment. This is praise.
May we all have cause to praise?
